Some Friendly Reminders
It can be really easy to act on whatever emotions you may be feeling in a certain moment. Your heart may be telling you something that is not what’s right for you. The Bible actually tells us that our hearts are wicked and deceitful. So, in times when you aren’t sure what to do, remember some of the principles Jesus taught us throughout the Bible.
Jesus Loves You!
Have you ever felt unloved? Well, what would you say if we told you that there is someone who loves you so much that He laid his life down for you? Well, Jesus did. It is actually super common for people to beat themselves up, feeling like they’re not good or special enough, but God doesn’t think this way at all. Although we are all sinners, Jesus still loved us so much that He left Heaven and came onto Earth to live as a man, and quite literally died for us. He knows every part of our souls and hearts and loves us anyway. We encourage you to not let others, or even your negative views of yourself, impact your identity. There is only one who dictates your worth, Jesus. Find your identity in knowing that He loves you and believes you’re special. You are loved.
Love Thy Neighbor
It’s totally normal for there to be someone you may not like. Maybe you find them annoying or mean, maybe they hurt your feelings, or maybe you just don’t enjoy being around them. But did you know that treating others poorly just because you may not like them actually isn’t Biblical. God calls all of His people to love one another. In fact, Jesus actually says in the Bible that “loving” is the second most important commandment. We must all love our neighbors the way that Jesus loves us, and treat others the way we would want them to treat us. Be loving and compassionate to others around you, that is what God wants from us.
Trust God
It is totally normal to feel scared or anxious. Sometimes we are put in situations that seem really bleak. However, the Bible tells us that we should not be afraid. God proves time and time again that He keeps His promises and will always be us. So, the next time you may be scared about a test, or even a thunderstorm, do not be afraid. Pray about it. Talking to God is the best way of defeating fear. He has your back. God promises to be with you and He has a magnificent plan for you. Trust God.
Be Honest
Have you ever heard the phrase “white lies never hurt anyone?” Well, although lying may seem like a small sin, it is actually completely unbiblical. Being honest is so, so important because it reflects God’s character. God is truth. When we lie, we damage the relationships we have with the people around us because they are no longer based on truth and an honest understanding. Upholding moral integrity makes righteous relationships, with others and with God, possible. So, next time you find yourself about to say “I already did my homework” or “I didn’t do it,” stop yourself and resist that temptation so that you may walk a stronger path with Jesus.
